Morningside Rural Consultants Ltd

Protecting the Interests of Landowners and Farmers Across Scotland

Morningside Rural Consultants Ltd is a specialist land consultancy firm based in Lanarkshire, acting for landowners and farmers across Scotland. We provide straightforward, practical and commercially robust advice, ensuring our clients’ interests are fully protected in negotiations with renewables developers, utilities and infrastructure providers and acquiring authorities. Our purpose is simple: to rebalance the negotiating position and secure the strongest possible outcome for our clients.

Our team is firmly rooted in agriculture with each member of staff coming from a farming background, bringing first-hand understanding of farming, land management, livestock and arable systems, generational business pressures and the realities of operating within tight margins. That lived experience informs our advice. We combine that agricultural insight with strong commercial acumen and disciplined negotiation expertise.

We advise on utilities and infrastructure matters including electricity, water, gas, roads, rail, telecommunications, data centres and compulsory purchase; renewable energy projects such as wind, solar and battery storage; landlord and tenant matters; and land sales and acquisitions, including sourcing land for forestry and carbon projects. In addition, we prepare detailed business plans and financial models to support funding applications, secure lender confidence and enhance operational performance. Across every industry sector, our approach remains consistent: specialist, practical advice and determined representation focused entirely on protecting and advancing the interests of Scotland’s landowners and farmers.

We also pride ourselves on our role in providing practical, expert and results-driven advice to landowners and farmers who have suffered damage or financial loss as a result of works carried out by utility or infrastructure companies. We act directly on behalf of the landowner to assess and quantify the full extent of the loss incurred. We investigate the circumstances of the works, evaluate the operational and financial impact on the farming business, prepare a detailed and robust compensation claim and firmly negotiate to secure a positive settlement for our client.
